I’m pretty sure I’ve been talking about potty training Mason on here for months. It’s quite possible I’ve been talking about it for a year or more lol.
I remember the first time Mason went on the potty he was about 18 months. I was motivated by a friend who had a son a couple of months older who was going on the potty. Mason went every once in a while went I put him on the toilet. Before baths etc but I was confidant in saying that physically he wasn’t ready.
When I got pregnant with Elena we decided to try again. It seemed like yet again even though he knew what the urge to pee felt like he still wasn’t ready then Elena passed and we took a break. I couldn’t handle all of that plus potty training.
When I got pregnant with Baby3 we decided it was time to give it another go! It was going well and then one day Mason had a complete melt down on the potty I decided right then and there that Mason was not as ready as I thought he was and it was not worth the stress at the time. We weren’t going to get ANYWHERE if he was having meltdowns every time the toilet was suggested.
When I began working as a Pull Ups Ambassador we decided to give it another go. We’re approaching things a little differently this time. We’re going a little slower and increasing intensity when we feel that Mason is “into it” and refusing to battle with him over the potty I do NOT want to make this a super unpleasant experience!
Best way to make going on the potty EVERY day EVERY time a pleasant experience? A party of course, a Pull Ups “First Flush” Party.
All the kids that were able to make it (we’ve had quite the bout of cold weather and so many littles are coming down with colds) are actually already potty trained but that didn’t stop them from having a great time AND celebrating Mason every time he went to the potty!
I opened up the party kits and passed around some noise makers and hats. The noise makers were PERFECT to oh and ahhh after Mason when he got out of the potty!
And of course the kids love them and the party hats!
Here’s a look at a kit that our Potty Training Guests got:
I’ll also be bringing some to the people who weren’t able to make it and a quite a few lucky people will be getting some Pull-Ups!! It has stickers for your Big Kid, coupons for you, a Potty Progress chart (Spanish is on the back) AND a free Shutterfly photo book!
I’m really hoping that this party is the kick in the butt that Mason needs combined with this potty training app. Baby3 will be here in AT MOST 6-8 weeks and I would love to have only ONE in diapers!
**Don’t forget!** You can still enter to win a magical family trip on the Pull Ups Facebook page!
